BY ELOHOR FOGHOLA

MEMBERS of Ukwuani ethnic nationality in DESOPADEC mandate areas have commended the member representing Ukwuani ethnic nationality in Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Surveyor Azuka Enebeli for his motorcycle empowerment initiative.

The empowerment program held at Enebeli’s country home in Umutu, Ukwuani local government area, saw the distribution of motorcycles to selected beneficiaries across the mandate area as part of efforts to support farmers, traders, and small-scale entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the commissioning of the event, the

immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ochor C. Ochor, praised the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that is in line with grassroots development priorities in the state.

In his remark, the member representing Ukwuani ethnic nationality, Surv. Azuka Enebeli said the empowerment was part of DESOPADEC’s continued commitment to delivering people-oriented projects in oil-producing communities. He noted that Ukwuani has consistently benefited from various development programs under the commission.

According to him, all projects executed under his supervision are based on needs assessment and targeted at improving the living standards of the people.

He added that the motorcycle empowerment scheme was designed to ease the movement of agricultural produce and commercial goods between farms and markets.

Enebeli explained that beneficiaries were carefully selected through consultations with community leaders, stressing that their inclusion reflected their positive contributions to society.

He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of motorcycles to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the development of Ukwuani nation, while also charging them to remain good ambassadors of the community, DESOPADEC, and Delta State.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Chukwuka Idise Nath expressed appreciation to the Commissioner, DESOPADEC management, and the Delta State Government under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for what he described as a life-changing empowerment programme.

The event attracted prominent political leaders and stakeholders, including the immediate past Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ochor C. Ochor; Ukwuani Local Government Council Chairman, Barr. Possible Ajede (PhD); APC Chairman, Hon. Solomon Osakwe; the Assistant State Secretary of the APC, Chief Timothy Umukoro; among others.
