Agbateyiniro Inaugurates Investment Committee

By Veronica Ebuku /Blessing Okoribe

THE Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area on Tuesday inaugurated the Warri South Investment Committee with a call on members to bring Warri back to its former glory by re-inventing the place of Warri as the strategic economic hub of Delta State.

Agbateyiniro lamented that though Warri is termed as the economic nerve centre of Delta state, yet the indices upon which that characterization was made was gradually becoming untenable.

Mr. Agbateyiniro said that the night life in Warri was gone; many oil-prospecting companies and associated servicing companies had relocated. He warned that if urgent steps were not taken to stop the trend, then Warri would become a shadow of itself.

Agbateyiniro also stressed that the essence of the committee was to attract investments to Warri through a proper study of the reasons for investors leaving Warri and how to remedy the situation.

In his remarks, Chairman of the committee, Barr Tsewo Edema assured the council chairman that the committee will perform its duty with passion and diligence to make Warri great again. He emphasized on the need for an enabling environment of peace and security in Warri to encourage people to invest in and develop the city.  Edema pleaded with the chairman to always give them a listening ear to enable them perform their assignment effectively.

Members of the committee are Mr. Tsewo Edema as chairman, Mr. Happy Akpobasa, Secretary, Mr.  Amaju Pinnick, Mr Dafe Ukuvwere, Mr Andrew Megbele and Barrister Emmanuel Omovie as members. Others are the representative of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN; in Warri South, among others.
