THE Edo State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Uwuilekhue Idehen has reaffirmed that the State’s Transport Colour Code Policy is mandatory for all operators without exception.
Hon. Idehen reiterated the stance while receiving the Provost, College of Education (Technical), Ekiadolor, Dr. Lawrence Osagiede, and members of his staff at the premises of the Ministry of Transportation in Benin City.
The commissioner stressed that no exemptions would be granted, emphasizing that the policy was a statewide initiative designed to ensure security, orderliness, and uniformity across the transportation sector.
He acknowledged the concerns raised and assured ongoing engagements with stakeholders.
Hon. Idehen explained that the reform included a driver profiling system, which assigns operators unique security codes to enhance safety and traceability, alongside other measures, aimed at modernizing the transportation system in the State.
He urged the Institution’s transportation operators to comply with the Policy, noting that many others have already aligned with the State’s directives.
Earlier, the Provost of the college, Dr. Osagiede, raised concerns regarding challenges faced by the Institution’s transportation union in adhering to the policy and sought guidance and consideration from the ministry.
