Olu Of Warri Reaffirms Age Limit For Youth Election

OLU of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, has declared a new youth body in Warri kingdom, known as Ugbarajo Itsekiri Youths (UYI).

The  monarch made the declaration at the weekend at his Palace (Aghofen), Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State,  during the Youth Day celebration, held as part of the activities to mark his fourth year coronation anniversary.

According to him, the new youth body emerged from the merger of all existing Itsekiri youth groups, including the Itsekiri Native Council (INC) and the Itsekiri National Youth Congress (INYC), which have now been dissolved.

The announcement is inline with the suspension of the Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) in 2024 due to leadership tussles,  while the palace reaffirmed the maximum age limit for the president of the youth body is pegged at 38 years.

Ogiame said while 38-year-old can contest for the position of the President, but must handover to their vice as soon as they turn 40 years while in office

The monarch urged the youths to unite and work collectively towards the progress and development of the Warri Kingdom.
