Fight Against Oil Theft: NSCDC Operatives, Others Undergo Training

BY MICHAEL IKEOGWU/WARRI

THE ongoing fight against oil theft and pipelines vandalism, yesterday, received a boost as Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) and Top-Private Security Services Limited kicked-off a three-day intensive training for 100 operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Tantita personnel.

The exercise, holding at Jubilee Center, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta state, is focused on tightening surveillance and sharpening the coordination of forces guarding the nation’s critical oil pipelines.

The Managing Director of Tantita Security Service s Nigeria Limited, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Pondi, speaking through Brig. Gen. Efe Dafioghor (rtd), said the initiative was timely and imperative.

“As the ED Technical just told you, we’ve worked hard to ensure the pipelines are green, and the MD gives you kudos for that.

“The more you make the pipelines green, the more you improve the natural resource that builds the nation.”

The Executive Director, Operations & Technical, Capt. Warredi Enisuoh, represented by Rolland Isereke, declared that Tantita’s mission in the creeks since 2022 had pushed illegal refineries to almost zero.

“All major pipelines we safeguard are green, no infractions. That’s because of you,” Enisuoh said, hailing the role of the Army, Navy, and NSCDC in backing Tantita.

He urged participants to take the training seriously: “It’s not just about being in the pipelines; it’s about knowing how to go about your job. When you have a suspect, how do you handle your suspect? That’s why this training matters.”

Enisuoh further revealed Tantita has deployed drones capable of flying 10–16 hours to reinforce pipeline security.

“Sometimes you face gun battles in the creeks. It’s not easy. That’s why we collaborate with the armed forces for backup,” he added.

With oil theft bleeding Nigeria’s economy, security analysts say the drill could prove crucial in keeping the pipelines green, the industry code for free of infractions.
