A shocking incident unfolded when Inspector Maxwell Zabu, a security detail attached to former Port Harcourt Local Government Area (PHALGA,) Chairman Victor Ihunwo, allegedly shot himself dead at the ex-chairman’s Eagle Island residence.
As of press time, the circumstances surrounding the tragic event remain unclear. Sources reveal that the incident was promptly reported at the Eagle Island Police Post, which operates under the Azikiwe Police Division in Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu.
A team of detectives from the Azikiwe Division has since visited the scene as part of preliminary investigations. Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the development but insists that a thorough probe is underway.
In a swift move, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP OlugbengaAdepoju, has reportedly ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for a more in-depth inquiry.
