Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of Prof. Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba as the 8th Vice-Chancellor of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka. The appointment, which was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, will take effect from December 1, 2024.
Prof.Asagba, a distinguished Professor of Environmental Biochemistry and Toxicology, will succeed Prof. Andy Egwunyenga, whose five-year tenure ends next month. Prof. Asagba has held several leadership roles at DELSU, including serving as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Provost of the now-defunct Asaba Campus. His vast experience and academic background are expected to guide the university in its next phase of development.
