Wife of the Delta State Governor and Founder, You Matter Charity Foundation, Dcns Tobore Oborevwori has charged the newly elected women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to strive to protect the peace of the state via meaningful contributions.
She gave the charge when she received on a courtesy visit, the State Executives of APC Women at her office in the Government House, Asaba, yesterday.
In her words, “Use your offices to drive meaningful development across the state. I urge you to by all means, protect the peace and unity we have been enjoying in Delta State.
“To be able to achieve this, you must seek to have a balanced life. Your home front must be peaceful if you must lead well in politics.
“As women, you must understand that your marriage and home comes first before politics and you must do the needful to ensure that your homes are in one piece.
“Being able to keep your families is very important because while politics is transient, our families will always remain”, she admonished.
The First Lady further intimated the delegation on the vision and activities of her pet project, the You Matter Charity Foundation, where she explained she is driven by compassion and service.
She further charged the women leaders to work closely with the leaders of the party in order to better deliver the dividends of democracy to Deltans.
Dcns Oborevworri expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the women who donated N2.5M as part of their support to the You Matter Charity Foundation.
The leader of the delegation and APC Delta State Woman Leader, Dcns Ifeyinwa Sobotie in an address expressed her joy and that of the team over the privilege to serve.
According to her, their visit was born out of the need to join efforts with Her Excellency to see that the good aspirations of the Governor for the state are actualized.
The delegation comprised state women executives including the Women Leaders of the three senatorial districts, Delta South, Delta Central and Delta North.
In a closely related development, the Wife of the Governor also received on courtesy call, a delegation of the Delta Ijaw Women in Politics.
The First Lady commended the resilience of the women in a not-so-easy terrain such as politics, noting that their contributions were admirable.
In her words, “Your involvement in politics has been one of impact and legacy, no just about mere ambition”.
The leader of the delegation, Hon Patricia Asiyei said the group came on a note of solidarity to pledge their support for the Sheriff led administration especially at the grassroot level.
