The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Delta State Council, has approved the reconstitution of its directorates as part of efforts to strengthen youth advocacy, policy engagement and inclusive development across the state.

According to a statement by the State Secretary of the Council, Comr. Onyimah Michael, the reconstitution was aimed at repositioning the Council for improved effectiveness, responsiveness and impact in addressing critical youth-related issues in the state.

It listed the reconstituted directorates to include Education, Health and Training; ICT and Digital Skills Empowerment; Job Creation; Sports; Entertainment; Art, Culture and Tourism; Environment and Climate Change; Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); Good Governance and Democratic Process; Human Rights; Child Rights and Human Trafficking; Community Youth Engagement.

Others include Peace Building and Religious Engagement; Mass Sensitisation and Orientation; Research and Documentation; Project Monitoring; Housing; Transport; Welfare; Diaspora and Foreign Affairs; Security and Intelligence Gathering; State Brigade Band; School VYO Programme; and Special Duties.

According to the Council, the reconstitution is designed to deepen structured engagement with relevant stakeholders, promote sector-specific youth empowerment programmes, strengthen policy advocacy and ensure coordinated implementation of initiatives that align with the needs and aspirations of young people across the state.

The Council called on government agencies, community leaders, development partners and other stakeholders to give the necessary cooperation to the reconstituted directorates to enable them effectively discharge their responsibilities.

The Council noted that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope for More Agenda of the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori aimed at promoting inclusive, structured and sustainable youth development in the state.
