The Federal Government has introduced a new online system for verifying and assessing academic certificates, making the process easier and more transparent for Nigerians.
The Federal Ministry of Education announced that the entire process has now been digitised, meaning applicants no longer need to visit the Ministry in person. Everything can now be done online.
Under the new system, anyone who wants their academic certificates verified or evaluated must apply through the Ministry’s official portal: essverify.education.gov.ng. Applicants are expected to register on the platform and upload all required documents.
In addition, applicants must contact their schools and request that their official academic transcripts be sent directly from the institution’s email to the Ministry for verification.
The Ministry explained that this move is part of the government’s broader plan to use technology to improve services, ensure accurate records, and support better decision-making in the education sector.
Officials say the new system will make the process faster, simpler, and more reliable, while also improving the credibility of academic certificate verification in Nigeria.
