Ozoro Kingdom Endorses Obomovo for 2027 House of Representatives

In a landmark decision reflecting deep unity and consensus, the people of Ozoro Kingdom have unanimously endorsed Sir Blessing Obomovo as the sole candidate for the House of Representatives, Isoko North and South Federal Constituency, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was formally announced during a grand welcome ceremony held in Ozoro. The event was organized by the Ozoro Kingdom in collaboration with its five constituent blocs: Erovie (his maternal home), Uruto, Etevie, Urude, and Orumudhe.

The historic gathering witnessed the presence of key traditional and community leaders, including representatives of the palace led by the Owhiro ll of Ozoro Kingdom Chief Solomon Akeni,the Odiologbo of Erovie, Odio Tobi; the Ozoro Progressive Union (OPU), led by its President General, Chief Berkley Asiafa, and the Ajowa Isoko Women Group, led by Princess Abigail Elo Oriri.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the ceremony at his maternal home, Obomovo expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming show of solidarity. He noted that such unity and warm reception are earned through consistent service and dedication.

“For my maternal home to speak with one voice today, I am deeply honored and proud to be called an illustrious son,” he said. “My paternal home people, declared their support some days ago, and now the Ozoro people have followed suit. I am indeed a proud son of two great kingdoms.

“With this kind of background and support, one must be prepared. I have the people, the resources, and the capacity to serve. Government positions should be used for the benefit of the people, and I believe I can bring about meaningful change” Obomovo posited.

Highlighting his political experience, Obomovo stated that his involvement in politics dates back to his student years, during which he held leadership positions including president and secretary. He currently serves as the President of the Mission Boys Association (MBA) and previously contested for the House of Assembly seat in 2019.

He also commended the current administration for its developmental strides across various sectors, noting that increased federal allocations have positioned Delta State for greater progress. He called for continued support to enable further development.

Earlier, the President General of the Ozoro Development Union (ODU), Chief Odion Asiafa, described Obomovo as a philanthropist and seasoned political figure. He noted that Obomovo has long been a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), even before the recent wave of defections from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Obomovo is a friend to all, women, youths, and children alike. He has supported many through scholarships and various empowerment initiatives across Isoko North and South through his foundation,” Asiafa stated.
