JUSUN Delta State Branch Elects New Executive

THE Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Delta State Branch has elected a new executive committee to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years, following the successful completion of its 5th Delegates Congress election held at Labour House, Asaba, recently.

The exercise drew  hundred accredited members from Judicial Divisions across the three Senatorial Districts across  the state, with representatives of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and other observers to ensure compliance with electoral guidelines.

In his remarks at the occasion, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Comrade George Sobeye Sokari, National Vice President, South South Zone, commended members for their orderly conduct and reaffirmed the committee’s commitment to transparency and credibility.

At the end of the voting process, Comrade Taye Kenny Ukoruvi emerged Chairman; Comrade Anyanka Felix Azuka, Vice Chairman; Comrade OjugbeliIfeanyi, Assistant Secretary; Comrade Olukunyor Regina Ali, Treasurer; Comrade Oputeh Franklin Akposiobaru, Financial Secretary; Comrade NwaedoLawretta, Assistant Financial Secretary; Comrade Enuagune Abraham, Internal Auditor; and Comrade Oduah Joseph Unokiwedi, Public Relations Officer.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Ukoruvi pledged to prioritise staff welfare, professional development, and constructive engagement with relevant authorities and urged both victorious and unsuccessful candidates to collaborate for a stronger union.

“This victory is not for individuals but for the collective growth of our union. We are committed to inclusive leadership and will work tirelessly to protect the rights and welfare of all judicial staff,” he said.

Stakeholders commended the outgoing executives while urging the incoming leadership to address unresolved concerns. The new executives were sworn in immediately and charged with key tasks, including pursuing judiciary autonomy, advocating for a five-year upward review of the retirement age for judiciary staff, and capacity building, among others.
