DTHA Backs Oborevwori’s Security Trust Fund

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Dennis Guwor, has commended the launch of the State Security Trust Fund, describing it as a timely and visionary initiative.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori launched the fund to bolster security and strengthen good governance across the state.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Nkem Nwaeke, yesterday in Asaba, Guwor applauded the governor’s “bold and forward-thinking approach” to improving the state’s security infrastructure.

He described the fund as a major milestone in Delta’s efforts to promote peace, stability, and economic growth.

Guwor, who also serves as the National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, expressed the readiness of the State Assembly to provide legislative backing for the fund.

He reaffirmed the House’s commitment to supporting government initiatives aimed at safeguarding the lives and property of residents while promoting prosperity across the state.

“This initiative by Governor Oborevwori is not only timely but also strategic in fortifying our security system. The trust fund will serve as a vital mechanism for supporting and enhancing the capabilities of our security agencies, enabling them to respond effectively to emerging threats,” Guwor said.

Highlighting the collaborative spirit behind the initiative, the Speaker called on private sector players, development partners, and philanthropists to contribute to the fund, describing security as a shared responsibility.

He specifically praised the ₦10 billion donation by the Chairman of Tantita Security Services, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, describing the gesture as a remarkable example of community-driven support for state development.

Guwor further noted that the legal framework establishing the trust fund, passed by the Delta State House of Assembly, demonstrated the legislature’s proactive role in addressing the state’s security challenges.

“The establishment of this fund is not just about financing security operations; it represents a commitment to creating a safer Delta where businesses can thrive, communities flourish, and lives are protected,” he said.

The Speaker, therefore, assured Deltans of continuous legislative oversight and pledged that the Assembly would closely monitor the implementation of the trust fund to ensure transparency and accountability.
