DSCHC Expands Access, Welcomes 10,000 Widows

BY JUMAI NWACHUKWU

THE Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC), has recorded another milestone with the enrollment of 10,000 widows into the state’s health insurance scheme under the Widows Welfare Programme. Director-General of the Commission, Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, said the initiative is a bold step towards strengthening healthcare access for vulnerable groups across the state.

He said the enrollment would not only widen the commission’s impact, but reinforce Delta’s leadership in health insurance implementation nationwide. Dr. Akpoveta commended Governor Oborevwori’s “visionary leadership and commitment” to affordable healthcare, stressing that the initiative aligned with the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda and the state’s drive towards universal health coverage.

He urged health institutions and sectors, including stakeholders to remain proactive and ensure effective delivery of services under the expanded insurance program, emphasizing the importance of adhering to policy guidelines for the benefit of enrollees.

Akpoveta reiterated that the enrollment represented a determination to build an inclusive health system that prioritizes the welfare of the most vulnerable citizens.
