President Bola Tinubu has charged the Nigerian military to redouble its efforts in the battle against terrorism and banditry, vowing that Nigeria will not surrender to terrorism.
Addressing troops at the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina over the weekend, President Tinubu described the current security challenges as a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s history. He urged the military to remain unwavering in defending the nation’s sovereignty and restoring peace across the country.
The President’s visit to Katsina State marked the start of a two-day trip, during which he also inaugurated the 24-kilometre dual carriageway and the Katsina Agricultural Mechanised Centre.
“My dear soldiers, this is a defining moment for our nation. The threats of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency have lingered for far too long. Nigerians are counting on you to bring this menace to an end and restore peace to every inch of our territory,” President Tinubu told the troops.
“Let me hear you loud and clear: Are you ready? Are you committed to ending this insecurity once and for all? Let your resolve resonate through every valley and forest. Let the enemies of Nigeria know, their time is up.”
The President stressed that the fight being waged by the military is not merely about territorial control but about the very soul of Nigeria. He praised the troops for their resilience, asserting that their sacrifices and determination serve as an inspiration for the nation.
“The war will not be won by weapons alone, but by your will to stand firm, resist, fight, and triumph,” he said, adding that his government would support the military with action, investment, and unwavering commitment.
“We will match your courage with tangible support,” he added. “To those who seek to destabilise Nigeria, whether domestic collaborators or foreign agents, know this: Nigeria will not bow; not to fear, not to terror, not to treachery.”
President Tinubu reassured the troops that their welfare remained a top priority for the government, with measures in place to ensure the safety of their families, timely payment of allowances, and guaranteed healthcare. He also promised improved housing programmes, insurance coverage, and enhanced remuneration.
The President further commended the troops for their courage in confronting the ongoing wave of banditry in Katsina and across the country.
“I stand before you as your President, Commander-in-Chief, and fellow patriot, deeply humbled by your courage and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s peace, security, and sovereignty,” he said.
“You are the shields of Nigeria, standing between our people and the forces of terror. Every inch of ground you defend, every terrorist you neutralise, and every community you secure is a victory for justice, freedom, and the future of our children.”
