Ebube Nwaefido, six and her three-year-old younger sister, Miracle alongside one Chimanda, seven and her younger sibling, Excel, five have been abducted by suspected child traffickers in Ogwashi-Uku metropolis.
The four children are of two different parents, all living in one building as tenants in Umuokwe quarters in Ogwashi-Uku community.
Available information revealed that the four children were abducted by three ladies who were said to be natives of Ebonyi State.
The three ladies, suspected to be a trafficking syndicate, were said to have packed into the building barely four days interval before they struck.
The ladies were reported to have lured the children to go out with them in other to purchase ice cream and biscuits for them in a nearby supermarket.
According to sources in the vicinity, the suspects have rented the room and paid an upfront of one year.
Sources disclosed that the ladies had, while searching for accommodations, earlier approached Mrs Bose Nwafido, mother of Chimanda to verify if she could direct them to where they could secure a one room accommodation.
Narrating the ordeal to Ogwashi-Uku Metro, Mrs. Nwaefido said: “It was last Monday and the three women came asking me for a house to rent. I pointed to a direction but moments later, one of them came back and said she drank Pepsi and zobo and that she was having a running stomach; that I should allow her make use of our toilet .
“I took the lady to the back of the house where she defecated in a bush and thereafter she told me she was going to withdraw money from POS to pay for accommodation.
“The lady later came back when I left for market and carried my first son , 10-year-old Ifechukwude to know their house. That was how they started showing kindness to children around unknown to many they had evil plans.”
According to her, she left the children on Saturday for a program instructing them to play within the compound. It was then the women executed their evil plans.
Further information revealed that it was after some hours when the four children were not sighted around the vicinity that some neighbors began to express concern about their whereabouts. “It was then the parents and neighbours knew something was wrong and they started looking for the children, disclosed a neighbor.
Father of Ebube and Miracle, Mr. Kingsley Nwafido and wife who are heavily traumatized over the sudden disappearance of their children, appealed to the security agents to do everything within their power to rescue the four missing kids.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe confirmed the story, adding that investigation was ongoing.
