Education, Powerful Tool For National Devt —FG

THE Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa has expressed optimism that the Renewed Hope Initiaive in education would enhance a knowledge-based and sustainable economy.

The minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Abel Enitan spoke at the opening ceremony of the 84th Joint Consultative Committee On Education (JCCE) Plenary meeting in Asaba.

R-eaffirming the government’s commitment to education as a powerful tool for national development, the minister stressed that the theme: “Quality Education Data and Professionalization of Teaching Tools for Enhanced National Development” was apt and timely as standardizing Data collection and Professionalization of Teaching would ensure that only qualified professionals are entrusted with young minds, as quality teaching determines quality education that would raise self-reliant citizens in Nigeria.

In his remarks, the Delta state Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme maintained that Data collection and analysis and professionalization of teaching tools would aid planning and delivery of quality education in a safe and conducive environment.

The Governor, who said he was glad to host the event, stated that there was a need to move from policy formulation to implementation in order to avoid failure of the country’s educational system. Therefore, commitment was required from government and other development partners.

He encouraged  those present to be part of reshaping the country’s   educational future by harnessing the power of collaboration and innovation as discussions in the meeting should produce policies that are implementable on quality education.

The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the “Roadmap on Teaching Education in Delta State from 2026 to 2030,” by the Governor of Delta State.
