CAN Oshimili South Chapter Inaugurates New Executives And Directors

BY NKEM GREAT

THE Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Oshimili South chapter has inaugurated a new set of executives and directors to oversee the affairs of the chapter in Asaba.

Rev. Lucky Osagbakhoe, Chairman of the Delta State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), urged the new leadership to prioritize their relationship with God, advising them to serve as servants rather than masters. He emphasized that humility is the cornerstone of Christian leadership.

“When you humble yourself, you will learn to hear from God for direction to lead well and achieve success. Endeavour to involve God in every step you take because the journey can only be smooth when God is in charge. Do not lean on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him so that He might bring it to pass,” Rev. Osagbakhoe stated.

He added that God’s mercy and grace are essential for fulfillment in ministry, stressing the need to maintain peace and unity in the body of Christ through prayers, noting that success comes not by power nor by might, but by the Spirit of God.

Delivering a message at the event, Bishop Dr. Chinedu James, Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Delta State, warned the newly inaugurated leaders against division, which could cripple the organization.

“You must work towards unity irrespective of blocks. Live in love; do not boss people around because where love is absent, unity cannot exist, and the church cannot function where there is division. Lead by example through love, unity, tolerance, clear vision, broad ideas, integrity, and accountability, knowing fully well that one day you will give account of your stewardship,” Bishop James said.

In his acceptance speech, Rev. Gyang Dongo, the new Coordinator of CAN Oshimili South chapter, pledged to make the chapter greater by prioritizing unity and strengthening fellowship within the various blocks.

“As my team and I take the helm of this great organization, we promise to maintain the integrity of the church, uphold the values of unity, and shine the light of the world. We will continue to be beacons of hope, love, and compassion, reflecting the character of Christ in our community. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us work together so that we can be congratulated someday,” Rev. Dongo stated.

He expressed gratitude for extensive prayers leading up to the inauguration and pledged to work collaboratively with his team, the local government chairman, legislators from Oshimili South, CAN state leadership, and other stakeholders to strengthen the body of Christ.

Similarly, Bishop Dr. Chuks Okonta, immediate past Coordinator and new Director of CAN Oshimili South chapter, admonished his successor to focus on transparency, honesty, and righteousness for a successful tenure. He expressed confidence that with God on their side, the new executives and directors would render excellent service and make a significant impact.

Following the presentation of certificates to the new executives and directors by the state CAN Secretary, Ven. Arhavwarien Andrew, the officials were administered the oath of office under the directive of the state CAN Chairman. Prayers were conducted for the smooth running of the organization and the betterment of the chapter.

The newly inaugurated team comprises five elected officers and five appointed directors: Rev. Gyang Dongo (TEKAN/ECWA) – Coordinator; Mrs. Joan Nwanji (CSN) – Deputy Coordinator; Elder Lucky Onowita (CPFN/PFN) – Secretary; Harry Okonji (OAIC) – Assistant Secretary; Rev. Roland Igbigbidje (CCN) – Financial Secretary.
