WIFE of the Delta State Governor and Founder, You Matter Charity Foundation, Dcns Tobore Oborevwori, has once again reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to improving the health and overall well-being for children with special needs and their caregivers in the state.
The First Lady gave the reaffirmation, yesterday, when she flagged off her free medical outreach for children with special needs in Delta North senatorial district
Speaking at Ani-Nshi Primary School, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South local government areas where the flag off held, Dcns Oborevwori said the initiative was inspired by compassion and a firm resolve to ensure that vulnerable children are not left behind.
She emphasized that “Children with special needs deserve quality healthcare, educational support, and societal acceptance to enable them reach their full potential”.
The free outreach which involved 9 local government areas within the district provided free medical check-ups, medications, wheelchairs, and assistive devices to ease the burden on families and caregivers.
The wife of the Governor further announced the distribution of 100 Ulesson tablets to support digital learning, two interactive smart boards to enhance classroom teaching for special needs pupils, and 223 food boxes to cushion economic challenges faced by caregivers.
Dcns Oborevwori stressed that the integration of technology into special education will improve learning outcomes and bridge educational gaps for children with disabilities.
She reiterated the need for sustained awareness on autism and other developmental conditions, calling on communities to replace stigma with understanding and inclusion.
The first Lady, led by compassion said there was no going back for her on caring for children with special needs.

Earlier, the Director-General of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Barrister Mrs. Ogbedo, expressed appreciation to Her Excellency for her visionary leadership and dedication to humanitarian service.
She described the outreach as a practical demonstration of the foundation’s guiding principle, “Everybody Is Somebody.” She disclosed that medical professionals were on ground to attend to beneficiaries, while structured health talks were delivered on the care of children with special needs and autism awareness.
In his goodwill message, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme, commended the governor’s wife for complementing government’s efforts in strengthening healthcare delivery and inclusive education.
He described the outreach as impactful and timely, particularly in rural communities where access to specialized services is limited. He assured of continued collaboration between the Ministry of Health and the foundation.
The Chairman, Aniocha South, Hon Jude Chukwunwike in his welcome address, said the You Matter Charity Foundation, in line with the MORE Agenda of the Governor, has continued to put smiles on the faces of families and children with special needs.
He spoke on the honour of hosting the outreach while affirming the commitment of all Chairmen within Delta North towards the advancement of the vision.
Medical practitioners who delivered goodwill messages emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, regular medical follow-up, and community support in improving the quality of life of children with disabilities.
While giving the vote of thanks, the Chairman of Ika South, Engr.Jerry Ehiwarior said the magnanimity of the First Lady was beyond politics but a show of a motherly heart.
He expressed the collective gratitude of all the chairmen, admitting that the First Lady has been leading with example, especially while relating with the Chairpersons.
The atmosphere at the venue was filled with gratitude and palpable excitement as caregivers described the outreach as life-changing and commended Her Excellency for her compassion and consistent intervention in support of vulnerable groups.
