THE much anticipated construction of Flyover Bridge at the popular Uromi Junction, Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area, has finally kicked off with the movement of heavy duty equipment to site by the construction giant, Julius Berger PLC.
The Chairman, Ika South Local Government Area, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, who paid an unscheduled visit to the site was visibly elated, noting that the project, which he described as ‘massive’ was going to have significant social and economic impacts on the entire local government area.
The local government boss said that one of the far -reaching implications of the flyover bridge, when completed, would be the massive transformation of the entire Agbor metropolis, stressing that the project would be a landmark monument that would improve the aesthetic of the area as well as increase in commercial activities.
While expressing appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the intervention, the chairman appealed to residents to support the firm handling the project, adding that the area was an artery connecting different parts of the country until recently when vehicular movements became difficult and almost impossible.
“May God bless our amiable Governor, Rt. Hon.Sheriff Oborevwori, for this bold and laudable project, for the good people of Ika South. We remain grateful,” he stated.
The council Boss, who had variously been acknowledged by different segments of Ika South populace as having delivered on his administration’s mandate, since assuming leadership of the local government in July 2024, assured residents of his commitment to more developments across the local government area.
He thanked the people of Ika South, home and abroad, for their support and prayers, which he said had contributed immensely to the success so far recorded by the administration, and promised not to disappoint them.
