Nigeria Needs Good Fiscal, Monetary Policies To Move Forward In 2026 —Ngige

BY BETI ONU/ AWKA

NIGERIA’S immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige has said that what the country needs at the moment to move forward in 2026 remains sound fiscal and monetary policies that will target curtailing wastages in government and make administrators cut their coat according to their cloth.

Ngige, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke to journalists at the weekend in Alor, Idemili South council area of Anambra state.

According to Ngige, the country’s managers need to show prudence in the management of their resources and make deliberate policies to activate the manufacturing and productive sectors.

This, he said, will lead to economic growth, recovery, and generate employment because the economy, according to him, had been in the doldrums.

In 2026, the country needs good fiscal and monetary policies to move forward. We need to curtail or forestall wastages and cut our coat according to our cloth and show prudence in the management of resources.

“I wish our country economic recovery because the economy has been in the doldrums, good quality life, prosperity in all respects, and for our country to get back to its rightful place as the giant of Africa with improved security for the citizens, he said.

Ngige also spoke on political alignments and realignments by many politicians, some leaving the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and or Labour Party, and other fringe parties, and vice versa, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

More alignments and realignments, he said, will happen especially during and after the primaries of parties prior to the elections.
