INDIGENES of Asaba, in Oshimili South Local Government Area of Delta State, have lauded the local government Chairman, Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili, for the successful rollout of a ₦100 million empowerment programme aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting economic activities within the local government.
Speaking during the programme, several community leaders and beneficiaries described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that it reflects the chairman’s commitment to inclusive governance and people-oriented leadership.
They commended Hon. Ezenyili for prioritising the welfare of Asaba indigenes and investing in programmes that directly touch the lives of ordinary citizens.
According to them, the ₦100 million empowerment scheme has not only provided immediate relief to beneficiaries but has also laid a solid foundation for sustainable economic growth in the area. They urged other political leaders to emulate the initiative, stressing that such programmes were vital to addressing poverty and youth restiveness.
The empowerment initiative, which targeted youths, women, artisans and small-scale traders, was designed to promote self-reliance, reduce unemployment and enhance grassroots economic development. Beneficiaries received financial support, tools and other empowerment materials to help expand their businesses and acquire relevant skills.
In his remarks, Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering residents and delivering the dividends of democracy at the grassroots. He stated that the empowerment programme formed part of his broader vision to stimulate local economic development, create jobs and improve the standard of living of the people of Oshimili South.
