As Ward Passes Vote of Confidence On Tinubu, Oborevwori
BY SAM DUVWODE
LEADERS, elders, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jeremi Ward IV (Ughelli South Ward 11), Delta State, have held a strategic meeting at the ward headquarters in Owahwa Town, where they affirmed confidence in President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The members, who commended President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori’s APC-led government for the infrastructural development both at the federal and state levels, also passed a vote of confidence on Sen Ede Dafinone, Rt. Hon. Francis Waive, as well as Hon Festus Utuama.
The meeting, described as one of the most elaborate ward gatherings in recent times, focused on fostering peace, unity, and harmony within party structures to attract economic growth and infrastructural development to the area.
In his address, the Ward Chairman, Chief Dickson Awharhievwie, appealed for mutual respect between the youths and elders, urging young members to shun divisive tendencies and channel their energy towards productive ventures.
He condemned the use of terms like “Old APC” and “New APC,” declaring such segregation illegal since it does not exist at national, state, or local government levels of the party.
According to him, “Anyone who organises or attends meetings using such divisive tags will be referred to the disciplinary committee for severe sanctions.”
Awharhievwie expressed his apology on behalf of the youth for past misconduct towards elders, a move which was graciously accepted by Prof. G.G. Darah on behalf of the Elders Council.
Other members also cautioned the youths against misusing their mobile phones to send damaging text messages or engage in character assassination against elected and appointed leaders, describing such acts as a “pull-him-down syndrome” that benefits no one.
The meeting witnessed the inauguration of two key committees, which include the Elders Committee Council and the Leaders Council.
High point of the occasion was a motion for a vote of confidence on President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, Rt. Hon. Francis Waive and Hon. Festus Utuama.
The motion, moved by Chief David Uhawha and seconded by Engr Ogheneochuko Agberia, was unanimously adopted by the entire house amid applause.
Party faithful, in their remarks, described the meeting as a new dawn for APC in Jeremi Ward IV, expressing optimism that the renewed unity will translate into tangible development for the ward.
The meeting attracted notable personalities, including Prof. G.G. Darah, Prince Macaulay Dase, Bishop Isaac Chicha, Chief David Uhawha, and Hon. December Samare.
Others are Engr Ogheneochuko Agberia, Gen. Popor Augustine, Amos Dase, Dorume Stephen, Nukueye Saturday, Prophet Gole Philip, among others.
