THE Edo State House of Assembly has confirmed former Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Adjoto Kabiru, as the Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Civil Service Commission.
The confirmation came after the Committee on Rules and Business presented its report, and the House gave a straight consideration and confirmed Rt. Hon. Adjoto for the position.
Lawmakers also considered, at second reading, a Bill seeking to repeal the Edo State Customary Court of Appeal Law of 2015 and re-establish the Customary Court of Appeal.
Leading the debate, the Majority Leader Hon. Jonathan Ibhamawu argued that the legislation would strengthen the justice system, particularly at the grassroots, by ensuring effective resolution of communal and customary disputes.
Supporting the Bill, Minority Leader Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, former Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Marie Edeko, Deputy Governor Majority Leader Hon. AdehIsibor, and Hon. Eugene Inegbeboh, all agreed the proposed law was timely and necessary for enhancing justice delivery and sustaining the judiciary at the customary level.
