THE Delta State Police Command has deployed a large number of operatives across Delta State and assured residents of its commitment to a peaceful and crime-free Easter holiday period.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, made this known in a statement released by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, yesterday.
He reaffirmed the Command’s “zero tolerance for crime” and vowed that officers would serve “with dignity and pride” throughout the Easter period and beyond.
“All Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical team commanders have been directed to heighten their visibility across the state,” CP Olufemi stated, “to prevent, combat, and counter serious and violent crimes during the celebrations.”
To bolster the effort, personnel from key tactical units, such as Dragon Patrol, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Raiders Squad, Safe Delta, Safer Highway Patrol, Eagle-Net Special Squad, and the Crack Squad will be strategically deployed.
Officers will also be stationed at worship centres and popular recreational spots to ensure maximum security.
The Command emphasised that its operations would include targeted crime prevention strategies and public awareness campaigns, particularly focusing on offences that typically surge during festive periods.
CP Olufemi encouraged the public to remain vigilant and law-abiding, urging residents to be “instrumental to the policing of their environment” by reporting suspicious activities and cooperating with officers on duty.He further assured that the police will be working closely with other security agencies to maintain peace across the state.
“Our officers will be out in full force to guarantee the safety of the good and peace-loving people of Delta State,” he said.
