THE Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other sister agencies to ensure the free flow of traffic across the state as the Yuletide season begins.
The Director-General, DESTMA, Hon. Benjamin Okiemute said this whiule Speaking on the initiative during an interview with newsmen at his office, in commemoration of his one year in office.
He noted that the partnership would enhance coordination among traffic and safety agencies, improve response time to traffic congestion and road incidents, and promote safer road use during the celebrations.
The collaboration, according to him, was aimed at effectively managing the expected increase in vehicular movement during the festive period, particularly the Benin-Onitsha Expressway and traffic-prone areas across Delta State.
He explained that joint patrols, increased deployment of personnel, traffic monitoring and prompt removal of obstructions would be prioritised to minimise gridlock and reduce accidents during the period.
Okiemute reiterated that officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other collaborating agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with DESTMA to ensure orderly traffic flow and strict enforcement of traffic regulations.
He advised motorists and travelers to adhere strictly to traffic rules, avoid reckless driving and cooperate with traffic officials on duty to ensure a smooth and safe yuletide season.
