The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that train services on the Warri–Itakpe corridor will soon resume, following a temporary suspension for critical track repairs.
In a statement issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer of the NRC, Callistus Unyimadu, confirmed that the repair works had reached an advanced stage and that full services would resume “in the shortest possible time.”
Train services on the Warri–Itakpe line were suspended in April after engineers detected a fault that persisted despite initial attempts to fix it. Acting on expert recommendations, the NRC halted operations to carry out urgent maintenance aimed at safeguarding passenger safety, reliability, and comfort.
“We are pleased to inform the public that work on the affected sections is nearing completion. A formal announcement will soon be made to communicate the specific date for resumption of services,” the NRC said.
The corporation expressed appreciation to passengers for their patience and understanding during the disruption and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering safe and efficient rail transport nationwide.
The NRC’s decision to prioritise safety by suspending services for urgent maintenance underlines its commitment to reliable and comfortable passenger transport. Its announcement of the imminent resumption has been welcomed as a positive development.
