Egbetamah Pays Homage To Okporua 1
UDU Kingdom, in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, was in celebration mood over the weekend when a highly respected octogenarian and renowned business mogul, Chief B.J. Egbetamah, alongside his friends and family, paid homage to the newly crowned Ovie of Udu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Engr. Mike Ogheneovo Orugbo, Okporua I.
The ceremony was further dignified by the presence of two revered traditional rulers in Urhoboland;HRM Lucky OchukoArarile, Avbaike I, the Ovie of Umiaghwa-Abraka Kingdom, and HRM Mike Omeru, Ogurime-Rime, Ukori I, the Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, who graced the historic occasion, adding royal elegance and cultural gravitas to the ceremony.
Chief Egbetamah, in a generous display of support and allegiance, presented a cow and cash gifts to the Udu monarch, while the popular Imidaka Cultural Dance Troupe from Sapele provided live entertainment throughout the ceremony.
The act of generosity inspired an outpouring of goodwill, as other guests also supported the monarch with various gifts, piling heaps of naira notes in the traditional “plate of money” in an atmosphere of unity and celebration.
The event was not short of culinary and cultural appeal, as Chief Egbetamah ensured guests were treated to a variety of delicious meals and assorted drinks. The ever-energetic Imidaka Cultural Dance Troupe thrilled the audience with their signature acrobatic steps, further enriching the cultural essence of the day.
Dignitaries and notable personalities in attendance included Chief Tunde Smooth, Chief Wilson Ejeben, Chief Lucky Mughelli, and several chiefs from across Udu and the Orhuwhorun Ruling House, among others.
The homage was not only a show of loyalty to the newly crowned King but also a reaffirmation of unity, cultural heritage, and traditional reverence amongst the Udu people.
