TROOPS of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army Sector 1 Joint Task Force South South (Operation Delta Safe), have arrested a suspected cultist and recovered arms in a follow-up operation in Ezionun Community, Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade, Asaba, Captain IliyasuBawaRijau, the suspect, identified as 26-year-old MrIgbe Chika, was apprehended on July 19, 2025.
Items recovered from the suspect include a locally made firearm, an axe, a cutlass, two mobile phones, and a Toyota Camry with registration number Delta ASB 41 BE.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Chika is allegedly a member of the notorious Viking cult group and would be handed over to the relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
Confirming the arrest, the Commander, 63 Brigade/Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe, Brigadier-General Moronfolu Shonibare, commended the troops for their diligence and professionalism in carrying out the operation.
“The Nigerian Army will continue to work tirelessly to rid the society of cultism and other forms of criminality,” he assured.
