THE 9th National Youth Games kickoff today at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba with the arrival of the various States for the eventful moment that will bring about structures that will be enduring and most exciting in the establishment of the Nigerian child sports wise.
The Chairman of Delta State Sports Commission, Hon Onoriode Oborevwori has assured that everything is being put in place to execute a hitch -free youth games as the State has always done
It is another feat of barely eleven days’ meet for the youths of the country who will line up in their numbers for authentic display of strength, power and skills in different sports events where the will be adjudged excellent, good or signals of improvement as it is known all over that
The event as the Pointer gathered, is having about four thousand athletes outside the technical officials participating in the competition and every state of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory will be participating in the games.
The host State Delta will be taken part in all the events as part of her hosting provisions as the athletes did not take part in the Zonal Elimination where some of the players would have possible been eliminated in the ball games.
The Zonal Elimination is done across the six zones of the country and it involves the reduction of the number of teams that will participate in the real national competition in the ball games like volleyball, basketball, football, handball and others of their kind.
Winning the game as most persons are envisaging, is not a purposeful drive as the goal as earlier stated is to discover and nurture promising talents in order to secure the future of the country’s glory in sports .The South South States have some of their athletes in Asaba but their main teams are expected to arrive today with the other support groups that will assist in the execution of services.
