Members of St. George’s College, Obinomba Old Boys Association (SAGOBA) have felicitated with Prof. Abel Onunu, on his appointment as the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Medical, Health Sciences (FUMHS), Kwale.
The delegation, led by the National President of the association, Dr. Friday Okei, said the visit was aimed at celebrating Prof. Onunu’s new role and strengthening ties with their alma mater.
Okei used the opportunity to brief the Vice Chancellor on ongoing and proposed projects by the association aimed at improving infrastructure and promoting development in the school.
He appealed to Prof. Onunu to maintain an open door policy and carry members of the old boys association along in the affairs of the institution.
The President mentioned that the institution’s history would be incomplete without acknowledging the contributions of former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
In his response, Prof. Onunu expressed appreciation for the visit, applauding the leadership for their commitment in promoting their alma mater.
Speaking about the university, the Vice Chancellor disclosed that its take-off was not without challenges, but noted that with the support of Senator Omo-Agege, and God’s intervention, the vision became a reality.
He revealed that the institution recently matriculated its first set of students, marking a significant step in its academic journey.
