Fear and anxiety swept through the Ekpan community in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, yesterday, following the tragic discovery of the body of an unidentified lady near the popular Express Junction.
The corpse, discovered by early morning commuters and traders has left residents in fear.
“No one knows who she is or how she got there,” said a resident.
“It’s truly sad. We’re calling on the authorities to remove the body and help locate her family.”
As at the time of this report, the identity of the young woman remains unknown, and no official information has been released by the police or government.
In the absence of clear answers, residents have taken to social media platforms, sharing images and videos with the hope that someone might recognise her.
“This should serve as a warning to everyone, especially young women,” said another eyewitness at the scene.
“We’re pleading with mothers to talk to their daughters. The streets are no longer safe. People need to be extremely careful, especially at night.”
The tragic discovery has, once again, drawn attention to rising insecurity, with community members calling on the police and state government to intensify efforts in crime prevention and invest in surveillance around hotspots like Ekpan.
So far, no official response has been given by the Uvwie Local Government Council or the Delta State Government or the police.
