Reject Negative Patterns

Dcn Oborevwori Advises Mothers At 19th Mothers Arise Conference

BY EVELYN ZORZOR

wife of the Delta State Governor and Founder of the You Matter Charity Foundation, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, has called on mothers in the state to rise boldly in prayer and reject every negative pattern affecting their families and communities.

She made the call, yesterday, at the 19th edition of the Mothers Arise Prayer Conference held at the Government House Chapel, Asaba. The conference, organised by the You Matter Charity Foundation, had as its theme, “Not So!”, taken from Luke 1:60.

Addressing participants, Deaconess Oborevwori described the gathering as a covenant meeting and an appointed time for women to intercede for their families, communities and Delta State. According to her, “The theme is a wake-up call for mothers to stop compromising and to stand firm against spiritual and moral challenges. “If Elizabeth had not spoken up, the destiny of John the Baptist would have been truncated. Today, as mothers of Delta State, we speak with one voice and declare: Not so,” she said. She urged women to stop negotiating with negative influences and to make positive declarations over their homes and the state.

The First Lady called on mothers to use their words to shape their families and environment, adding that God would honour their faith and commitment.

She commended the guest speaker for honouring the invitation and contributing to the spiritual growth of women in the state. Deaconess Oborevwori also appreciated the founding mothers of the conference and former First Ladies of the state, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan and Dame Edith Okowa for laying a solid foundation for the prayer initiative.

She appealed to participants to continue praying for the Oborevwori-led administration to ensure the full implementation of the MORE Agenda and sustained peace in the state while she also encouraged women to remain active stakeholders in governance by registering and obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards. The guest speaker, Rev Fanny Ekpekurede charged women and mothers to arise in prayer and not allow complacency rob them of their inheritance.

“It is in the place of prayer that you shape the destiny of your children. It is through prayer that you determine the outcome of your life. “You do not need to commit any offense before people make you their enemies and so if you do not say no to the gimmicks of the enemy, you become a prey”, she warned. She led the women in prayers for their families themselves.

Highlights of the programme included special prayers for families, youths, government officials, Delta State and the nation.
