The Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has called on public school teachers to reciprocate the State Government’s investment in the education sector by showing commitment to duty as she welcomed student to the 2025/2026 academic session.
She made the call when she monitored schools, yesterday, in the state, describing the turnout of both teachers and students in some part of schools as impressive and a sign of renewed dedication to learning.
Some of the schools visited by the commissioner included Government Model Secondary School, Unity Secondary School and West End Mixed Secondary School, all in Asaba, among others.
According to her, the state government has continued to prioritize education by investing heavily in infrastructure, trainings and welfare, just as she urged teachers to justify these efforts through diligence, punctuality and improved delivery in classrooms.
Ezewu emphasized that teachers remain critical in shaping the future of the state, as the quality of education received by students directly depends on the dedication of those entrusted with their training. She urged student to pay attention to their studies and ensure they desist from immoral practices that could destroy their future, while stressing School proprietor/proprietress to adapt to the new curriculum by the federal Government.
She commended principals and school administrators for ensuring a smooth resumption process and assured that the state government would sustain its commitment to building a stronger, more competitive education system for Delta.
Similarly, our reporter, who visited Afadia secondary school, Achalla Ibusa, Au-Ato Primary School and Zappa Mixed Secondary School, reported low turnout of student and high turnout of teachers.
