Ashibogwu Urges Discipline, Professionalism In Education Ministry

DELTA State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu  has called on directors and senior officials of the Ministry of Secondary Education to uphold discipline, demonstrate professionalism, and embrace accountability as essential pillars for enhancing service delivery in the education sector.

Dr. Ashibogwu made the remarks during a high-level meeting with the Functioning Permanent Secretary, directors, and deputy directors of the ministry, held in his office on Tuesday.

Emphasizing the importance of adhering to assigned duties, the Commissioner urged officers to operate strictly within their defined roles and avoid interfering with the responsibilities of other departments.

Highlighting the significance of respect for authority, Dr. Ashibogwu warned against undermining constituted offices particularly that of the Permanent Secretary, noting that respect is reciprocal and essential for smooth administration.

The Commissioner also stressed the importance of diligent follow-up on memos and official requests, pointing out that writing memos without proper follow-through often leads to delays and missed approvals.

He directed that no official file should remain on any officer’s table for more than 72 hours, and any file exceeding this timeframe must be returned to the registry.

In preparation for effective planning, Dr. Ashibogwu instructed all directors to submit their 2026 work plans before the end of January, emphasizing that adequate time had been provided for thorough preparation.

He further encouraged inclusive leadership, urging directors to create opportunities for all officers in their departments to contribute meaningfully to the work process.
