PDP Expels Wike, Fayose, Others

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) executed a sweeping purge of 11 top-ranking members yesterday, for what it described as “serial anti-party activities” and “gross violations” of the party’s constitution.

In a decisive vote at its Elective National Convention held in Ibadan on November 15–16, 2025, the party expelled eleven prominent figures, including former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, former Imo PDP governorship candidate Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and ex–National Organising Secretary Hon. Umar Bature.

Others shown the exit door are Adeyemi Ajibade (SAN), Mohammed Abdulrahman, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Hon. Austine Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah, George Turner, and Chief Dan Orbih.

According to the motion adopted at the convention, tagged the “Fifth Motion for Expulsion”, the affected members were sanctioned for “anti-party activities and gross breaches” of the PDP Constitution pursuant to Articles 10(6), 58(1)(b)(c)(f)(1)(j)(l) and 59(1)(g) of the party’s 2017 constitution (as amended).

The convention reaffirmed its constitutional supremacy, stressing that the party is a voluntary political platform whose members must uphold its values and decisions. Delegates argued that the expelled individuals “supported and canvassed votes for opposition parties,” a violation considered intolerable at a time when the party is trying to rebuild its electoral strength.
