Oyibode Asserts Presence In Udu LG, As NUJ Inspects First Year Projects

BY CHRISTIAN EZE

THE Chairman, Udu Local Government Area, Chief Vincent Oyibode has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to develop the area through the deliberate initiation and execution of sustainable projects.

Chief Oyibode demonstrated this resolve when members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, paid him a courtesy visit. The visit was aimed at inspecting projects completed in Oyibode’s first year in office. The local government chairman led the delegation on a tour of completed and ongoing projects across Udu.

The Council Chairman reiterated his commitment to the rapid development of Udu communities, taking the NUJ team to verify the execution of previously listed projects. He said this was necessary to dispel any doubts or misconceptions among sceptics about the authenticity of his achievements.

He further expressed his determination to change the narrative that local governments are ineffective, noting that he, along with his Executive members and the Legislative arm, is committed to adding value to the lives of Udu people. He affirmed his administration’s resolve to provide visible and lasting infrastructure that would withstand the test of time.

Chief Oyibode revealed that his priority upon assuming office was to address security challenges in the area. According to him, the entire local government had been riddled with fear and communal tensions. Oyibode said he had to adopt reconciliatory strategies to restore peace. Thankfully, he said, with divine intervention and concerted efforts, the various communities now share a common understanding of peaceful coexistence and mutual responsibility. “It is no longer a case of communal battles, but a collective slogan of ‘live and let live,’” he said.

Highlighting other milestones achieved in his first year, the chairman showcased a modern office complex under construction to accommodate the chairman’s office and other essential departments. The complex also includes an auditorium for meetings and multipurpose rooms to ensure efficient government operations.

Earlier, Comrade Oyowe explained that the purpose of the visit was to verify the developmental strides made by the Udu Local Government Council under Chief Oyibode.

He acknowledged the chairman’s people-oriented approach and commended his achievements so far.

Oyowe encouraged Chief Oyibode to maintain the same tempo, noting that Deltans were pleased with the pace of development recorded in Udu.
