The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, yesterday, charged political office holders not to derail in their support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration.
According to the Deputy Governor, loyalty should be 100 per cent, adding that the political office holders should be telling the people what the government was doing.
He spoke at a meeting of elected and appointed political office holders from Ndokwa West local government area held at his country home, Ibabu, Onicha-Ukwuani, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
“This administration is ours and it is very favourable to our people.
“All political office holders are expected to support this administration and that of our President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
“Our support for the All Progressives Congress is 100 per cent; there must be no compromise.
“As political office holders, we should let the people know what government is doing, be advocates of government wherever you find yourself,” the Deputy Governor said.
He noted that the meeting was necessary as they are members of one political family, and he called on the attendees to always preach peace and show love for one another.
Some of those who attended the meeting included Chief Obi Nzete, Hon. Azuka Azaka, Sir Christopher Osakwe, Engr. Dan Ossai, among others.
….Mourns Opia
The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has said that the late Joshua Opia lived a life marked by dedication to public service.
Comrade Opia was, until his death at the age of 48, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State.
His remains were interred, yesterday, at Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State and Deputy Governor Onyeme, accompanied by political office holders, attended the ceremony.
The Deputy Governor in a condolence message sent to the family of the deceased said, “Comrade Opia was a distinguished figure whose life was marked by dedication to public service and the relentless pursuit of justice and fairness.
“As a true Comrade, he was a tireless advocate for the masses, contributing significantly to the political development and social justice movement of our people.
“His commitment, integrity, and passion for the welfare of others set a high standard for all who worked alongside him.
“We recognize that no words can fully alleviate the pain of this loss, but we encourage the family and his associates to take solace in the enduring memories you shared and the monumental contributions he made to society.
“May God, the source of all comfort, grant his soul eternal rest and provide the entire Opia family, friends, and associates the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
In a related development, Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme attended the burial ceremony of Pastor (Mrs.) Ossai Helen, elder sister of Engr. Dan Ossai.
Pastor Ossai, aged 78, was buried at Utagba-Uno, Ndokwa West Local Government Area on Friday.
The ceremony was also attended by Rear Admiral Mike Onah, Hon. Azuka Azaka, Sir Christopher Osakwe, among others.
