Onyeme Bags Chieftaincy Title For Humanitarian Activities

BY SAM DUVWODE

The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, yesterday said that an award or title is a call for the recipient to do more for society.

He remarked shortly after he was conferred with the chieftaincy title of Ochili Ozua of Aboh Kingdom by HRM, Obi Oputa, the Obi of Aboh Kingdom, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to the Deputy Governor, “Recognition is a challenge for the person so recognised to do more. I am happy with this title as it is evident that my activities for the good of society are not going unnoticed. I will work more and do more to emancipate our people, especially the less privileged among us.” The Deputy Governor was honoured by the King during the celebration of the New Yam Festival of the Aboh Kingdom.

Obi Oputa III told the Deputy Governor at the colourful and well-attended event, which featured a boat regatta, among other activities, that the chieftaincy title was in recognition of his efforts in supporting the less privileged in society.

He said: “We are honouring you with a chieftaincy title today for your outstanding charity work all over the state and beyond. We have chosen the title, Ochili Ozua of Aboh Kingdom, for you based on your humanitarian activities.

‘’It is not easy to do charity work. The humanitarian work you do for people all over the world is commendable, and we want to honour you with this chieftaincy title.” The New Yam Festival celebration marks the end of the farming season and the beginning of a new harvest season.
