An unidentified male passenger has been confirmed dead as a truck driver lost control and ran over a vulcanizer workshop, killing the victim at the Afiesere junction in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to an eye witness, “The truck failed breaks at Heroes of Faith church and the driver lost control before running over the Keke passenger who died immediately as his head was burst open at Afiesere junction while the vulcanizer escaped death.
“The truck with registration number, Delta: ASB-538-XY with the logo of DGIT construction and real estate, driven by an unidentified driver was detained at Ughelli Area Command (at the time of filing this report).
“The victim was confirmed dead on the spot and his remains were taken to the morgue at the Ughelli Central Hospital.
Speaking to The Pointer, the vulcanizer who narrowly escaped death said: “I was at the other side of the road when I saw the accident that happened and people were shouting my name to have been killed in the incident.
“Firstly, I want to thank God for saving me from untimely death. While I mourn the death of the passenger, my vulcanizing machine which is worth over N400,000 has been destroyed.
“The vulcanizing machine is my only source of income for me and my family and now that it has been shattered beyond repairs, I don’t know how to feed my family again, I need help at this moment.
As at the time of this report, traffic officers from the Ughelli Area Command and officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were at Afiesere junction to decongest the traffic after the incident.
