The Executive Director of Projects on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, has been honoured for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of engineering professionals and the delivery of quality projects in oil and gas communities across Delta State.
The award was presented at the DESOPADEC Headquarters by the Warri Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Technologists in Engineering (NATE), led by its Chairman, Engr. Ovabor Okpakowode.
In his remarks, Dr. Okorodudu commended the association for the honour, stressing that the successes recorded by the Directorate of Projects were made possible through the dedication and sacrifice of both its leadership and staff.
He recalled that during an earlier visit, he had advised members of NATE to seek membership in the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), pointing out that without engineering, society cannot advance.
Charging the technologists on continuous self-development, the DESOPADEC Project Director emphasized that no profession can thrive without ongoing training and retraining. “Advanced nations are where they are today because they value knowledge. Without continuous learning, any profession will stagnate,” he stated.
Dr. Okorodudu further assured the association of his support, confirming that their request had been noted and would be forwarded to the Managing Director of the Commission for necessary action.
Earlier, the Treasurer and Coordinator of NATE in DESOPADEC, Engr. Blessing Sagay, lauded Dr. Okorodudu for his developmental strides within the Commission. She also expressed gratitude for his consistent support to the association while formally presenting NATE’s request for sponsorship to its forthcoming National Conference and Annual General Meeting
The highpoint of the meeting was the presentation of an award for Outstanding Contributions to Engineering by the Chairman of the Warri Chapter of NATE, Engr. Ovabor Okpakowode, to Dr. Okorodudu in recognition of his leadership and service.
