The Executive Director of Projects on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, hailed the recent reelection of Olorogun Ese Gam Owe as President‑General of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide.
Speaking after the conclusion of the election at the Urhobo House, Uvwiamuge, Agbarho, in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Dr. Okorodudu praised the electoral process as “transparent, credible and wholly reflective of the will of our people.” The Electoral Committee, led by Chief Emmanuel Ighomena, was commended for conducting a vote‑count that was clear to all observers.
The decisive margin, according to Dr. Okorodudu, “is a strong endorsement of Olorogun Owe’s leadership, his humility, experience and unwavering dedication to the Urhobo cause.” He recalled Owe’s previous service as National Secretary, noting that his return to the helm reflects the trust placed in him by the Urhobo nation.
Okorodudu extended his congratulations to all members of the newly elected Executive Committee and urged them to work hand‑in‑hand with President‑General Owe. “Unity within the executive is essential for effective decision‑making and for strengthening UPU’s developmental initiatives,” he stressed.
He also highlighted the peaceful atmosphere that characterised the election, describing it as “a collective victory for the Urhobo nation” and a reaffirmation of the community’s reputation for orderly civic conduct. “The absence of conflict makes this triumph even sweeter,” he added, calling on stakeholders to rally behind the new leadership for the progress of the Urhobo nation.
He concluded by thanking the Electoral Committee, the delegates, and the entire Urhobo fraternity for their participation and patience. “Our nation has once again shown that peace, unity and democratic values are the pillars upon which we will build a brighter future,” he said.
