THE Delta State Government has installed street lights on Bazunu and Iyara roads in Warri.
Our correspondent also observed structures already in place for the installation of street lights on Cemetery Road, Warri, at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the state government has also installed street lights on Odion and Okere roads, among other major routes in Warri, the commercial hub of Delta State.
Some residents who spoke to our correspondent were full of praise for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the development.
One of them, an Itsekiri-born public analyst, Lawrence Kpaisi, noted that the installed street lights would boost socio-economic life in Warri.
“It will encourage petty trading at night. This is a kind of lifeline to low-income earners who are into petty trading,” he said.
Another resident, Chief Akpojotor Adjarho, noted that the street lights on Bazunu Road would improve security, noting that Bazunu is an important link between Lower Erejuwa and Deco roads.
He also pointed out that Bazunu serves as a gateway to Igbudu Market at the western end. Adjarho, however, appealed for street lights to be installed on the nearby Odibo, Radio, and Old Welfare roads.
All the respondents lauded and appreciated Governor Oborevwori for the ongoing installation of street lights in Warri, noting that the project would help restore the lost glory of the oil city.
