Secretary to Delta State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, has said that the strategic interventions and development trajectory of the Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has significantly bolstered the organic growth of the state.
Dr. Emu, who disclosed this in an interview with Government House Correspondents shortly after the State Security Council Meeting presided over by Governor Oborevwori, said as a result of the development, most people were relocating to Delta State.
He noted that so much was going on in the fight against criminality in the state, adding that the synergy among various security agencies in collaboration with the state government was yielding impressive and remarkable outcome.
According to him, Delta State is run on intelligence, pointing out that it was for this reason that you see a lot of un-manned non-state actors as well as state actors who disguised to make sure that they get information which, he said, was helping the state government in curbing insecurity.
“Delta has grown organically as most people are relocating to Delta State. Security wise, we are better than our neighbouring states. Because of that, people are coming to the state in droves.
“The way to measure the pressure is the price of land in your area; is the cost of a one bedroom apartment; is the cost of a two bedroom apartment and the cost of living here. Night life is back here.
“You are seeing estates in all the bushes in Ogwashi-Uku and Utulu. You don’t buy estates if you don’t have cash. People are buying estates because of the crisis they have in Lagos and in the North.
“They have found here as a fantastic haven. The infrastructural interventions and development alone is enormous to open up the entire system and that is how it should be. So, your reportage is very critical to what we are doing,” Dr. Emu said.
The SSG further disclosed that the state Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu was directed by the State Security Council to relate with all security agencies in the state either collectively or individually as far as crime reporting is concerned, emphasising that media reportage was very critical to what the state government was doing with regards to security of lives and property in the state.
While saying that effective community policing was essential in complementing the efforts of security agencies in mitigating crimes, he reiterated that Governor Oborevwori was highly committed to ensuring that there is adequate security in the state.
