Oborevwori Presents 2026 Appropriation Bill Today

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori will today present the 2026 Appropriation Bill before the State House of Assembly.

The Governor’s intent was made known by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor during yesterday’s plenary.

Guwor, at the commencement of plenary, read the Governor’s letter requesting the approval of the lawmakers for him to appear before the legislators for the presentation of the State’s 2026 Draft Bill.

The Governor, in the letter, requested to appear before the lawmakers by 10am

Motion for the approval of the Governor’s request was moved by the Leader of the House and member representing Aniocha North State Constituency, Hon Emeka Nwaobi.

The motion, which was supported by the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Perkins Umukoro, was unanimously adopted by the House following a voice vote called by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.

Meantime, the House, during yesterday’s plenary, seeks to repeal a 68-year-old law; Public Health Law, 1957.

The bill known as a Bill for a Law to Repeal the Public Health Law 1957 and establish the Public Health and Hygiene Law of Delta State 2025 and for other connected matters is being sponsored by the Leader of the House, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi.

Second reading of the bill has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 9, this year.
