Oborevwori Assures Support For Corps Members

BY EBI NIEKETIEN

DELTA State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F.O. Oborevwori, has assured National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state of his administration’s commitment to providing the needed support and creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.

The governor gave the assurance, yesterday, at the terminal parade and closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Issele-Uku.

Oborevwori, while congratulating the corps members, urged them to approach their host communities with respect and openness, stressing that embracing cultural diversity would strengthen national unity.

He also encouraged corps members to leverage the entrepreneurial skills gained during camp, assuring them of opportunities through the state’s Skills Acquisition and Youth Development Centres spread across various local government areas.

“As a government, we remain firmly committed to your welfare, safety and success. We are investing in the ongoing development of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Issele-Uku to ensure it remains a model facility nationally. Our administration will continue to prioritize infrastructure upgrades and create an enabling environment,” Oborevwori stated.

The governor further appealed to stakeholders, including community leaders, traditional rulers and local government authorities, to support corps members and provide them with a safe and conducive environment in their places of primary assignment.

In his remarks, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. John Kwaghe, described the orientation period as one of discipline, self-discovery and resilience for both corps members and camp officials. He charged corps members to contribute positively at their places of primary assignment by leaving behind a legacy of integrity, dedication and impact.

Kwaghe also emphasized the importance of Community Development Service (CDS), urging the corps members to initiate projects that would address the needs of their host communities.

While appreciating Governor Oborevwori for his consistent support and ongoing infrastructural improvements in the camp, Kwaghe appealed to the state government to address security concerns at the facility by reinstalling recently vandalized electrical installations and reconstructing the perimeter fence to safeguard lives and property.
