THE Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State, says it has apprehended a 28-year-old man (names witheld) for allegedly defrauding a woman of N1.8 million.
The spokesman of the corps, Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, said this in a statement, yesterday, in Kano.
He said the suspect, who hailed from Garko Local Government Area, and a resident of Kawo area of Kano metropolis, allegedly lured his victim with fake promises of better education and profitable business ventures.
“The suspect used local charms to deceive his victim, a married woman, into parting with her hard earned money amounting to over N1.8 million,” he said.
Idris-Abdullahi said the corps has completed investigation into the case, adding that necessary legal action would be taken against the suspect.
He reiterated commitment to protect the people against fraudsters and other criminal activities in the state. NAN
