NSCDC Delta Launches Female Squad, Begins School Patrols

In a bold move to enhance security across Delta State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta Command, has launched a revamped and fully equipped Female Squad to protect schools and enforce safety regulations in public spaces.

The initiative, championed by State Commandant, Chinedu Igbo, is part of a wider operational strategy aimed at safeguarding critical infrastructures, ensuring safe learning environments, and maintaining security before, during, and after the upcoming festive season.

The newly formed Female Squad, the first of three teams envisioned by Commandant Igbo, officially began operations under the leadership of the Head of the Safe School Unit, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC), Ijoma Sam.

The squad’s patrol commenced at Koka Park, where they enforced park regulations and tackled indiscriminate parking by commuter buses, easing traffic congestion around the area.

Following the park operation, the squad visited several schools across the state capital, including Zappa Secondary School, Niger-Mixed Secondary School, and Azagba Secondary School. School administrators expressed enthusiasm and gratitude for the squad’s presence, noting the positive impact of previous Safe School Unit initiatives.

They requested more routine patrols to bolster security and allow teachers and students to focus fully on teaching and learning without apprehension.

ACC Sam assured the school communities of Commandant Igbo’s commitment to rapid response and consistent protection, emphasising the Corps’ readiness to address any emergencies as they arise.

Aligning with directives from the Presidency via Commandant General NSCDC, Prof Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant Igbo, reiterated his pledge to maintain rigorous, safety-driven patrols in schools throughout Delta State, aiming to provide an optimal learning environment for students.

Delta State Command PRO, DSC Anthony Uchenna, confirmed that this initiative signals a proactive approach by the NSCDC in strengthening public confidence in school safety and urban orderliness ahead of the festive season.
