By Emmanuella Oghenetega

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), has extended its deepest condolences and unwavering solidarity to the resilient people of Borno State and the Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, following the tragic terrorist attacks in Maiduguri.

In a condolence message, the Chairman of the NGF, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, expressed profound sorrow over the incident.

He said, “We are deeply heartbroken by the terrorist attacks that struck parts of Maiduguri, resulting in the loss of many innocent lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the people of Borno State. We also wish those injured a swift and full recovery.”

In a statement signed by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, Director, Media & Strategic Communications, it was revealed that the
Chairman assured Governor Zulum of the Forum’s full support during this difficult period, describing the attacks as a grave violation of the peace and security that all Nigerians collectively strive to uphold.

He noted that such acts of violence, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, constitute a profound affront to shared humanity and the sacred values of the season.

The NGF commended the swift and coordinated response of the Borno State Government, the military, and emergency services, whose prompt actions helped to prevent further loss of life.

The Forum also acknowledged Governor Zulum’s steadfast leadership and his tireless commitment to rebuilding the state and restoring peace despite persistent security challenges.

“This tragedy underscores the urgent need for sustained vigilance and a more unified, coordinated approach to security across all subnational governments.

“The NGF stands firmly with the government and people of Borno State and calls on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of this heinous act, while strengthening measures to safeguard all Nigerians.

“Borno State has consistently demonstrated remarkable resilience in the face of adversity. The NGF remains confident that the state will overcome this tragedy and emerge stronger and more united.”
