A part of efforts to eradicate malaria in Delta State and Nigeria, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), the Society for Family Health (SFH) has conducted an orientation exercise for members of the Insecticide-Treated-Nets (ITN) campaign coordination committee before the commencement of the ITN mass campaign distribution exercise.
The exercise, which took place at the State Secretariat, Asaba, was flagged-off by the Delta State Malaria Programme Manager, Dr Julie Ania.
According to her, the exercise was important for members of the committee for efficient monitoring and supervision of the distribution exercise, as well as providing the state with further information from the field that would guide decision makers with actionable plans on how to well combat malaria.
The team lead for SFH, Mr John Ocholi and his team, educated the committee members on urban malaria strategies, household mobilisation processes, ITN distribution process, including the setting up and maintenance of the treated nets and the supervision and monitoring of ITN campaign.
The distribution of the treated nets would run for five days, commencing on May 26 and ends on 30th. The exercise would cover 18 of the 25 local government areas of the state, with about 3.1 million treated nets set to be distributed.
